Manhattan Studio Apartment
New York, NY

High plaster ceilings and thoughtful use of finish materials make this 800 square foot, mid-town Manhattan studio apartment feel larger than it is. Design features included Murphy bed cabinet, a galley kitchen, lavatory and bathing room. Additionally, the apartment was rewired and plumbing reworked for new kitchen and bath.

The Bathing Room includes a walk-in shower, two person whirlpool tub and toilet. Tile commonly used in subway stations, 3 x 6 white, was selected for this New York apartment.

Previously the old kitchen, a new lavatory with oak flooring creates a transition space between the living room and bathing room. A full glass pocket door takes up little space and allows natural and artificial light through the translucent surface.

When retracted, the Murphy bed serves as an elegant backdrop for the living and dining areas.
