The center piece of this old industrial railroad complex and its namesake is supported by the most significant radial ornamental cast iron structure in the world. GDA was commissioned to stabilize and restore the former 1866 B&O Railroad Shops. Buildings included a two-story bridge and machine shop, the 150' diameter West Roundhouse, and the 100' x 200' Frog & Switch Shop, totaling 66,000 sf. The multi-phased project began with the preparation of a Historic Structures Report and later included grant writing, cost estimating, restoration bid documents, reuse studies and Intermodal Operations studies.
