Acting as both architects and developers, Lisa Dall'Olio and Matthew Grove conceived of Broomgrass, an organic farming community, as a new prototype for conservation development that allows farming, woodland conservation and residential subdivision to coexist.
Sixteen one acre parcels are scattered in clusters of three or four lots around the 300 acre commons, which has been placed into a protective farmland preservation easement. GDA had prepared community regulatory documents including design guidelines that promote energy efficient design and "green" building practices. Community includes shared amenities such as an oak timber bank barn, underground utilities, lap pool, spa and sauna.
