GDA was called on to lead the redesign of Navy Federal’s Winchester Operations Center’s employee cafeteria after the previous design, only 6 years old, to respond to covid concerns and short comings of the initial layout.
The scope of work began with the build out of a back of house food delivery kitchen for call in orders from employees located in the other Navy Federal buildings on the Winchester campus. The scope then expanded to include the hot food line, salad and sushi bars. The kitchen was to remain open during the construction. To accomplish this, GDA developed phasing plans to allow the work to proceed without disrupting food service. GDA worked with MEP engineers to make adjustments to air flow, exhaust, plumbing, power and lighting issues.
