PRIVATE RESIDENCE

Gerrardstown, WV

This home was designed for a wooded lot and clad with White cedar shingles. The South facing façade features large glass windows and doors to flood the space with natural light in the winter. Deep eaves shade the same windows in summer. The exterior and interior materials avoided the use of plastics of any kind. The entry foyer acts as an airlock for cold and hot seasons. The FSC certified white oak wood flooring contains small knots to lend a casual feel. The counters are made of recycled bottles.
Access to the basement from the exterior incorporates the use of an egress skylight to provide sunlight to that level. While only 2,140 square feet of space, the house features three bedrooms and two and a half baths.
